Labor Shortage

I was listening to NPR this morning and heard this story about a labor shortage among farm workers. Apparently for a variety of reasons there aren’t anough migrant workers around to harvest food on America’s industrial farms. How to deal with this shortage? Well one way, as the story notes, would be to mechanize some of the jobs currently being done by humans. But a more obviou way to deal with a labor shortage is to raise wages. I would be willing to bet that with wages 20% higher the large farm conglomerates could get rid of that pesky shortage!
