Saving Chavez From Himself

I’m no Venezuela expert, but the results from yesterday’s constitutional referendum seem very much like a good thing. Many of the Chavistas I respect had come out in opposition to the reforms. The results also show that unlike many of our ersatz allies (ahem, Russia, Pakistan) Venezuela is a functioning democracy, and not the dystopic autocracy its critics portray.
