Happy Fourth!

If the Cubs weren’t down 6–0, it’d be a perfect day. Here’s some food for thought on this proud holiday.

Some thoughts from reader JZ:

Riding home on clear, lovely night, seeing all sorts of people of all ages and colors sitting around eating and drinking and lighting off fireworks, I can't help but think that -- despite rampant institutionalized inequality and corporate greed and Presidents pardoning crooks and such -- it's pretty great that we live in a place where everybody can generally relax and get along on a day to day basis. Maybe that's the chicken kebabs and beer talking.

Amen.
