On The To-Read List
No One Makes You Shop at Wal Mart. From what I can tell it’s a book that I’ve wanted to exist, even thought about attempting to write for a while now. The entire genre of pop economics books is dominated by liberatarian-minded writers who present basic pro-market orthodoxy in an accessible and engaging fashion. But there’s no equally accessible book that rebuts that account and lays out a view of political-economy from a progressive/left perspective. From what I can tell, that’s the book Tom Slee has written. Tyler Cowen has some thoughts on it here.
