Yglesias points to a pretty hilarious 1962 Atlantic article about how jukeboxes were going to destroy the music industry. You’ll note this argument is made anytime a new technology crops up. VCR‘s were going to be the death of the movie industry, and, as this classic DownHillBattle t-shirt reminds us, “Home-taping is killing the music industry.”
