I’ve made the mistake of turning on the Petraeus hearing and already want to shoot myself in the face. This is the logical conclusion of the “Cult of the Soldier” that’s swept up our country the last six years. Why engage in democratic debate when we can just have a man in uniform tell us what to do? Rep Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, (R-Florida) just referred to today’s troops as part of a new “Greatest Generation.” This has a long pedigree.
