Earning My Keep

Working on a comment for the magazine. Some links to keep you busy while I write:

1. Fox actually censored the speeches at last night’s Emmy’s

2. The man with his hand on the steering wheel of the global economy for decades was the devotee of a totally nutty hard-right sci-fi novelist. My favorite sentence:

Rand’s magazine, The Objectivist, later published several essays by Mr. Greenspan, including one on the gold standard in 1966.

Ah yes, the gold standard. Question: would an economist who wrote a youthful essay about nationalizing the steel industry ever be confirmed as Fed Chief later in life?

3. Limits of Empiricism

Christopher Hayes is the Washington, D.C. Editor of The Nation.
