Full Spectrum

Stoller catches Mitt Romney advertising himself as the only “full spectrum conservative” in the race and wonders where he’s heard the phrase “full spectrum” before, and associates it with medication. But the phrase immediately called to mind full spectrum dominance, a military doctrine first proposed back during Bush I and continued in Bush II that posits a vision of a US military that can defeat any and all foes at any time, anywhere in the world. Otherwise known as empire. I wonder if the allusion is intentional or just a strange coincidence.
