The Primacy of Organizing

One of the most encouraging trends of this election season so far is the remarkably high turnout for Democrats in all the contests. There are probably a number of factors contributing to this, but a lot has to do with the increased sophistication and competence of, not to mention emphasis on, field organizing. This week’s issue of the Nation has two really good articles on the topic. One by Matt Stoller is about the new tools and new talent being put to work in the field offices of the campaign. The other, by Laura Flanders is an on-the-ground look at grassroots organizers in Colorado.
