In Defense of Heterodox Economics at Notre Dame

A while back I wrote a story about so called heterodox economists, who operate outside of the discipline’s mainstream. One of the departments I highlighted in the piece was at Notre Dame, which historically had a left-leaning, heterodox department until a few years ago when a new dean decided to break the department in two: one for “real” economics and the other for all the namby-pamby “heterodox” stuff. The latter, of course has been starved for resources, tenure-slots and grad students ever since. There’s a petition up here calling attention to their plight an asking for support. Check it out.
